11 Ways to Say No to Fear

Life has been so crazy lately. I have missed writing and I’m so excited to get back into it.  Since I have been quiet all month long, I thought I would just update you on what’s been going on and the reasoning behind me being so quiet.

And I’m talking, like, VERY quiet…over ALL social media.

If you follow me on Snapchat (megsh8), you will have seen a little bit about what has been going on, and a very little bit on my IG stories (wheellifeblog).  But, I have not posted on my IG feed, written a blog post, or anything on FB basically the whole month of August.

At the beginning of August, I decided to start looking for a new home closer to the Cleveland area.  I downloaded the Zillow app and away with searching I went. I had no idea what I was searching for (house, cluster home, or a condo) nor in what area of Cleveland.  I was just wondering what was out there that was within a 15-20 minute drive to work, that was in a safe area (um, hello! Young(er) female walking a little pup after dark?!) and within my *assumed* budget.  Little did I know that search would completely flip my world upside down for a few weeks!

Keep breathing! It’s going to get bumpy!

I decided to inquire on a condo in a high-rise along the coast of Lake Erie.  This area is called the Gold Coast (yet to find out why). But, it houses a few high-rise condo buildings, many with lake view balconies.  Within a few minutes the realtor was calling me and hooking me up with another in her office to assist me in my search. I really didn’t know what I was getting into, but I soon did not have any time to do anything other than work and look at condos.

AND WITHIN A WEEK, WE LISTED MY HOUSE FOR SALE!

AHHH!  All of this was happening oh so fast!  But, now, a few weeks later, I get to reflect on the journey.  At this point, I am almost positive I have found my condo, but am waiting on an estimated cost of modifications to make any decisions on putting in an offer and what to do with the offer that’s on my house.  This has been SUCH an emotional journey for me.

I have lived in Wooster for my entire life.  Wooster is what I know and I am comfortable in my house.  But, I know that I NEED this move in my life in order to start the next chapter of my life.  Although I like my life, and am happy, I am not completely happy. So, in order to get to that point, I need to make some changes and I truly believe that this move is the first step.  The future that I want will not happen in Wooster.

Oh wait, I forgot to mention!

In the middle of all of this chaos, I had eye surgery.  So, my journey to find a new home continued in the midst of my eye healing.  I know this put more stress on my body, but you have to do what you have to do.  I needed this eye surgery done. I had double vision throughout the day, most of the time and that was not safe for my commute to and from work and not to mention just down right annoying.  For months I basically just had to keep one eye closed in order to make sure I was in the correct lane. Very scary.

Now what?

Although this move is scaring me a bit, I know it’s the best thing for me.  We all get scared with unknown “things.” But, I know that things will work out how they are meant to.  If the condo that I’m looking at does not end up working out, I know it’s because I wasn’t meant to be there.  If the offer on my house falls through, I will know that it wasn’t time for me to move. I probably have procrastinated on this move too long because of fear.  The fear of the unknown, of change, and of moving my entire life to a new city and leaving the comfort and familiarity of my friends and parents.

Embracing fear means gaining strength, courage, and confidence in yourself.  If you don’t face your fears, you are left with regret and wondering what could have been.  In order to get the most out of life, you must work past your fears and face the unknown.

Here are 11 things you can do to help face your fears:

  1. Track your fears
  2. Lean into your fears
  3. Relax your body
  4. Record your past successes
  5. Stop your (fearful) story
  6. Make fun of your fear
  7. Notice abundance everywhere
  8. Adopt the success of the greats
  9. Develop self-belief
  10. Take your fear and shove it
  11. View life as an awesome, wild adventure

I wouldn’t try to do all of these at one time.  It would be overwhelming to do so. But, picking one or two to try and rewrite your fear is the stepping stone to success.  Fear is not a bad thing. But, if you let fear take over your life, then are you really living?

As always, leave me some feedback either here – below this post, e-mail me (megs@thewheellifeblog.com), or on any of my social media platforms! If there is ANYTHING that you want to hear about – please let me know!  I can’t do any of this without YOU, so I would love to connect with you!

Let’s keep those happy thoughts, productivity and self-care going!  Live honestly, passionately, and with kindness!
